Trail magazine have never made a secret of the fact that we're big fans of Keen shoes. Sure, not all of their footwear is ideal for high-mountain use, but for less intense pursuits, they're amongst the best and most comfortable shoes you can put on your feet.

Take the Clearwater CNX sandal as an example. Would we recommend them for a mid-winter high-altitude ridge traverse? Don't be silly. But for holidays, summer strolls or, as we demonstrate here, lazy afternoons by the river, they're pretty bloody marvellous.
