There was no stopping Lewis Hamilton in the 2020 Hungarian GP. The Mercedes driver delivered an almost flawless weekend, claiming his seventh Hungarian pole on Saturday, leading for most of Sunday’s race and posting the DHL Fastest Lap on the run-up to the finish line.

The Hungaroring has always been one of Hamilton’s favorite tracks. This victory was his eighth - only one other Formula 1 driver has managed eight victories on any one race track, namely record world championship winner Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton’s victory was never in danger. He excelled in the early mixed conditions and had built up a lead of well over 20 seconds, five laps before the end. Still missing, however, was the fastest lap, and he wanted the bonus point at all costs: “I have already lost a world championship by a single point once before. So, I know how crucial it is to make the most of every moment.”

Hamilton’s lead was big enough to make the additional pit stop, change to a set of soft tires and mount a determined challenge for the best time. After discussions over the team radio, it was agreed that he would pit with four laps to go.

With the stop coming so late in the race, Hamilton realistically had only two shots at it, but he made the most of them. His time of 1:16.627 minutes on the last lap was not only the DHL Fastest Lap, but also a new track record. Hamilton therefore comes away from Hungary with a maximum haul of 26 points and leapfrogs past his team-mate Valtteri Bottas straight into the world championship lead.

I attended the 2013 Ferrari Racing Days in Hockenheim and the F1 Clienti were there with a few Formula One. They drove around the track the whole week-end, and it was quite epic, as usual with an F1. Some good stuff !!

A new clip from Red Bull sees Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel explain the 2014 Formula One regulations -- which are arguably the most complex the sport has ever seen.

At the start, thousands of car parts simultaneously assemble around Dan to form the RB10.

As Dan races to catch up Seb in his RB9, the World Champion's car becomes transparent while travelling at full speed. The film then presents a visual sequence that shows the 2014 regulation changes taking shape and coming to life, as Seb's car transforms from an RB9 into an RB10.

As well as providing information on the new technical changes for 2014, the clip also presents a unique view of the technology at work inside this year's Formula One cars.

Formula 1 has always been about pushing the regulations to the maximum, and occasionally that includes stepping over the mark and doing all you can to avoid getting caught. Giorgio Piola recalls such an incident with the Ligier JS11, and how he spent months trying to work out what the French team was up to. Eventually a crash at Watkins Glen gave him the opportunity to discover what Ligier had gone to great lengths to hide from prying eyes
