June 3, 2016 - It's wet, muddy, slimy, and smells like rotten eggs: Sulfur Cave in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is full of gases so toxic that a person who enters would pass out after just a few breaths. But that didn't stop David Steinmann of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Donning a special respirator, he first explored the cave in 2007. In this extreme environment, devoid of sunlight, Steinmann found clumps of tiny blood-red worms, each one just an inch long and as thin as a pencil lead. Now genetic analysis has confirmed that the worms are a new species that may not be found anywhere else on Earth. These tiny worms could even offer clues to the kinds of life that might be found on other planets.

The Dead Sea Scrolls are the oldest biblical texts ever found. The discovery gave us important clues about the everyday lives of the people who recorded these stories more than 2,000 years ago.
Today, the search for more treasures continues. Are there additional manuscripts that might shed more light on the earliest versions of the Bible’s stories?

Why do you laugh when you’re tickled? Scientists at Humboldt University of Berlin are studying rats to try and solve the longstanding mystery. Given the right conditions, and enough back and belly tickling by a researcher, ratscan come to associate a researcher's cotton gloved hand with the sensation of being tickled. Tickling makes them “giggle,” albeit in frequencies too high for human ears to hear. The rats develop a fondness for the human hands, chasing their scurrying fingers in circles. The scientists observe the rat ticklishness, and track how their brain processes the sensation, hoping to uncover clues about the laugh-inducing feeling.

The Titanic was a massive cruise ship that was commonly viewed as indestructible. When it began its maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City in 1912, voyagers indulged in some of the most elegant luxuries of the time. But the state-of-the-art safety equipment wasn’t enough to keep the ship afloat after striking a massive iceberg; more than 1,500 people died. Now the infamous ship rests 12,000 feet deep in the Atlantic Ocean, about 400 miles southeast of Newfoundland. This video will reveal some little-known facts from this iconic story that intrigues historians to this day.
